Carnival Breeze – Final Days in Dry Dock!!!

The Carnival Breeze is currently at the Grand Bahamas shipyard in Freeport, Bahamas finalizing her two week dry dock.  Workers have been working hard day and night to complete her refurbishment along with the planned additions.

They have been updating the public areas and lounges with new carpet, some tile work and new lighting.  She is also receiving the tasty Alchemy Bar, the delicious Guy’s Pig & Anchor BBQ,  and possible rumors have it that she may be receiving the Seafood Shack.  She is also having some hull work completed and finishing up with some new paint on the hull.

She will be on her way back to Galveston, Texas in a couple days to set sail on her first cruise post dry dock on April 30th.  She will be in beautiful tip top shape for her Western Caribbean sailing.

Dream’s Resort, La Romana Review – Day Pass

Going to La Romana, Dominican Republic and just want to relax???  A great way to spend the day is to purchase a day pass at the Dream’s Resort. It is located right on a beautiful beach, with 2 awesome pools. One with a blow up type rock climbing wall, which is great for the kids. At the same pool they offer volleyball nets for those wanting to jump into a playful game of volleyball. The property is beautiful with lots of greenery all around.

There is a large BBQ area on the beach where you can go to get your all- inclusive meals. They had burgers, hot dogs, chicken, fries, nachos, with all the condiments. Next to this was a cute little blue boat where a lady was cutting up fresh watermelon and pineapple and passing out to people.

Up next to the pool was a brick oven type pizza place. They had several different pizza options.

Now let’s not forget the bar areas. There was one next to the pizza place by the pool with the rock climbing wall. It was a walk up bar and had chairs to sit at. The other pool had one you can sit at and included a swim up bar. The food is not gourmet style. Although it was good and the drinks were abundant as well. The drinks were not watered down like at some places, and with a small tip you were sure to get a very tasty drink!!!

They also offer daily activities on the beach for those who enjoy getting involved in the fun and games. A lot of fun especially for the spring breakers and summer crowds. By the pool areas things were very quiet and relaxed.

Now how do you get there? Well it is just a short drive from the cruise port by taxi, which will cost between $10-$15 per person each way, depending on how many are in your group. As a bonus on the taxi ride you will get to see a few sights along the way. One place you will pass is the famous Chavon River with a nice picturesque view.

Once you arrive you just go inside to the reservation counter and tell them you are here for a “day pass”. A day pass in March 2017 was $65 per person and half price for children. This is all-inclusive. Once you pay you can head right out to the pool area and start your beautiful relaxing day. You can also email the resort ahead of your visit and they will put your name on a list, although you do not pay until you arrive.

So if you are looking for a nice relaxing day without getting bombarded by venders, this is the place to be. Easy to get to by taxi, great food, delicious drinks, friendly staff, and beautiful beach and property.
