This has happened on my recent American flights as well. Customs and Border Patrol has been bumping passengers with illegal aliens. On the last flight 8 paying customers were bumped but it cost American $800.00 each.
I had a hard boarding pass and my AA app automatically placed me on a much later flight connection. I used the hard copy and got the red flashing light and buzzer at boarding time.
I told the gate agent if I’m being bumped I wanted the maximum compensation. Ask for a red coat agent. They are authorized to compensate higher than a gate agent. I’ve deleted the AA app since then.
Not to be upset,everytime i book a cruise i always use the Cruise Lines Air instead of booking my own i think it is safe and more covinient they put you on a early morning fight they give you your fight info just show it at the check in gate with your baggage and you should be in the system and you should be all set same coming home see if you can get a non-stop flight as well.
